GO PATS GO!

First, congratulations to the NewEngland Patriots for winning Super Bowl XLIX!! It was such a great game that came down to the last seconds!

This past Wednesday, my sister and I decided to head down to City Hall in Boston to celebrate the win with the New England Patriots in their victory parade. This was the first time I was able to go to a parade like this so I was really excited!

We decided to head to the end of the parade for the full experience.  Unfortunately, due to the cold temperatures, the pep rally at the end was cancelled. 

We arrived before the parade started to get a close spot.  Luckily there weren't too many people at first, but that would soon change!

As time went on, the crowd thickened and soon there were thousands all awaiting the arrival of the Patriots.  Even thought there were a lot of people I always felt safe especially with the boston police spread throughout the area.

Every one patiently waited with excitement.  Any loud cheer from down the street would evoke questions about if the team was finally coming through. 

All of a sudden there was a loud boom and the confetti cannons burst. 

They showered the crowd in red, white and blue pieces.

Soon we were enveloped in a confetti blizzard!

To introduce the team, a band came through to shake up the crowd.  

Their upbeat music had me moving but not so much the crowd.  It seemed people were too eager to dance.

Then the crowd began to really roar as the owner, Robert Craft, came through with the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Trailing right behind was coach Bill Belichick.

Finally the players arrived! I cheered, waved and chanted along with the crowd as they passed by.  I took a ton of photos of the team but I only included a couple featuring my personal favorite and some of more well known players.

After standing outside for such a long time, it was time for a hot drink to warm my sister and me up. We headed to a small cafe in the North End called Thinking Cup.

From the outside the shop seemed small and unimpressive.

After walking inside, I was shocked to see such a spacious room. The decor had a relaxed and vintage feel.  It was also very quiet; all I heard were hushed murmurs and the machines going.  It is a great place if you want to sit and read or get work done.

Along with great tasting drinks, the place also has an extensive menu that offers a selection of things to eat for lunch and snack on.  They even have a make your own grilled cheese menu! 

I ordered a cappuccino and it was delicious.  I thought it was a little pricy for the serving but the quality of the espresso made up for it.

Thinking Cup was worth the trek in the cold weather but if the north end is too far for you there are two other locations on Newbury St. and Tremont St. 

While Thinking Cup was nice to go to, the parade was the best part of my day.  Going to the parade was an experience I will never forget and I am so glad I decided to go.  If your team wins the Super Bowl next year, I would definitely recommend going to the parade.  It is an event that I feel everyone should go to at least once in their life.
